As part of making funeral arrangements, family members sometimes select a charity or other organisation to receive financial contributions given in memory of the deceased. Occasionally this request is made "in lieu of flowers." Some families choose to have this information included in the memorial stationery.

The following are examples of how this can be worded.

FOR AT SERVICE MEMORIAL PRODUCTS
  • In lieu of flowers the family wish for you to support (deceased name)'s
favourite charity (insert charity) in their name.

  • The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to (insert charity).

  • Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to (insert charity).

  • As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to (insert charity).

  • Remembrances may be made in the form desired by friends.
